About DK Meyers

It is about 5:00 pm on a dusky Saturday. Sitting cross-legged, I marvel at my mother's ability to put a Helena Rubenstein mascara wand to her eyelashes and not poke out her eyes. We are getting dressed for her Saturday night date with my dad. Other than traipsing around in her black satin high heels (with rhinestones, natch), the best part of this ritual is opening "the jewelry drawer." Tiny gold creatures with sapphire and diamond sprinkles await. What would look right with the silky black dress? I help choose.

Jewelry was more than simply an adornment, it was creating memory.

Searching for meaning, understanding the "self" has been my life journey. Making jewelry is a manifestation of this circuitous journey concretized. It is in the process of making that I become whole. It is my passion.

I have been privileged to work under the guidance of a few master teachers. But Chie Teratani is my Sensei. His kindness, guidance and infinite patience are a teaching in itself.

Influence comes in various forms: a Brancusi sculpture or a profile of a tired subway passenger. I sculpt in wax, fabricate and set stones. I am interested in expressing what is authentic. I am very grateful.
